Planmeca OPG DENTAL IMAGING

PLANMECA OPG units are recognized worldwide for their premium quality and clinical imaging performance, and they enjoy a major share of the market including Australia where more than 400 Planmeca OPG units are in routine clinical use.

The Planmeca Group is based in Helsinki (Finland), is privately owned, profitable and stable. It exports more than 98% of its
production to international markets, and is ranked amongst the top 10 manufacturers worldwide.  This is a company recognized for its stability, quality and integrity.

There are a number of key reasons why Planmeca OPG units enjoy such a high reputation in the market, and why so many
Hospitals, Radiology Practices and Dentists have installed Planmeca.

The Planmeca Advantage

:: PATIENT POSITIONING

Planmeca faces the patient looking out into the room (not the wall and a mirror). The Operator looks directly at the patient, and during both positioning and exposure they can maintain ‘eye to eye’ contact.

 Advantage – Operator efficiency and patient confidence…

:: MODULAR DESIGN
All Planmeca OPG units are designed from the ground up as modular units which permit later option upgrades. This permits you to start with a lower cost unit and enjoy the quality and This permits you to start with a lower cost unit and enjoy the quality and performance of Planmeca, and later to add those special imaging capabilities you wanted for special applications.

 Advantage – Retained value and efficiency.

:: WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

All Planmeca OPG units accept patients seated or standing, ambulatory or in a Wheelchair. Even a Hospital Gurney can be used in the Emergency Dept. Try that with many of our competitive products !

 Advantage – Real world practicality

Planmeca Models …

The PROLINE series OPG units have been in production since 1986 and upgraded extensively over that period. This is a classic design which has proven highly reliable and clinically efficient.
800 Australian users is confirmation of the superiority in all respects of the Planmeca Proline OPG.

PROLINE XC.
  This is the mainstream Planmeca model installed in most Hospitals and imaging Centres.

It is designed for OPG, Sinus, TMJ and Ceph, and incorporates as standard comprehensive jaw shape & size selection to allow perfect imaging of patients of all shapes and sizes and of course including reduced dose and geometry selections for children. The XC can also be upgraded to include the TMJ True Profile module for more precise TMJ imaging.

Proline XC is available for film, CR or direct digital acquisition, and of course can be field upgraded to DR in the field (see DIMAX 3 below)

PROMAX

ProMax is the ‘next generation’ of X Ray systems for OPG, and with its configurable architecture (modular) it can be upgraded to a range of advanced maxillofacial studies. The new open positioning concept makes patient positioning fast and convenient, and the imaging geometry is based on the latest concepts guaranteeing undistorted images of this anatomical region.

ProMax is offered in a basic configuration for standard Pan imaging (adult & child), double TMJ lateral, double TMJ PA, and sinus PA views. A wide range of optional programs are listed as upgrades for segmentation, improved orthogonality, improved interproximal angulation, variable angles on TMJ views and non rotational views – both PA and mid sagittal.

ProMax uses SCARA (Selectively Compliant Articulated Robot Arm) digital control technology which enables highly flexible imaging geometry and the ability to add new imaging programs with complex movements. All movements are generated in software which drives the robotic arms.

The ProMax is available in two basic formats. ProMax with SCARA 2 is the basic model for routine OPG & Ceph imaging.  ProMax with SCARA 3 is the version designed for the full range of specialist maxillofacial imaging modalities. Please note that SCARA 2 cannot be field upgraded to SCARA 3. Select one version or the other based on your long term requirements.

Some of the features and specifications of ProMax are as follows …

  • Automated microprocessor controls
  • Centralised control with Graphic User interface
  • Variable beam shaping geometry for optimum depth of focus control
  • Fully motorised patient positioning system
  • Horizontally and vertically sliced exposure programs (options)
  • Reduced exposure area program for small patients (child program)
  • Cross-sectional programs for molar and TMJ regions.
  • Adjustable  focal trough shape and size.
  • Pre-programmable exposure settings
  • Automatic compensation for the cervical vertebral shadow
  • Program memory for special programs
  • Optimised image geometry and constant magnification
  • Flat cassette 15 x 30cm with rare earth screens
  • Automatic compensation for mains voltage fluctuations
  • Optional DIMAX direct digital imaging OR Orex sensor plate imaging.
  • Optional Cephalometric attachment 18 x 24 cm or   24 x 30 cm.

Optional items available include …

  • AUTOPRINT and ADMARK film marking system  (film & PSP versions only)
  • AEC for both Pan and Ceph exposures (film & PSP versions only)
  • Improved orthogonality and interproximal angulation –  requires SCARA 3 option.
  • rotational Sinus views PA and midsagittal – requires SCARA 3 option.
  • Tomography – narrow linear beam, wide beam for film;  narrow linear beam for digital systems.
  • true linear tomography and magnification correction modes (requires SCARA 3 option) (film or PSP version only)

The X-Ray Generator is an advanced constant potential output unit, computer controlled and with fully automated self calibration and diagnostics.

Outputs from 54 to 84 kV. and 0.5 to 16 mA.
High capacity X Ray tube with 0.52 mm focal spot.
